Jimmie Carolyn Harris Moody was born February 1, 1944, in Pine Bluff. She graduated from White Hall High School in 1962 where she was a proud Bulldog cheerleader and the 1962 Senior Class Homecoming Queen. She carried that Queen title for the rest of her life. She definitely was a Queen. Jimmie worked in the White Hall School District where she was an administrative assistant until she took on the role as the district's Food Service Director. She loved her job, and a few of her favorite tasks were making menus and visiting the schools as the excited, hungry kids came through the lunch line. The lunch ladies may have shown some favoritism towards her children and grandchildren by giving them just a few extra fries and tots. She retired in 2006 after serving 28 years in the district. She loved her family and enjoyed time together, especially if it involved cooking for the grandchildren. When they stopped by, she would insist on cooking something for them. They learned quickly that Nana didn't take no for an answer, and it was best to sit down and start visiting. She loved being a Nana, and she was Nana not only to family but many who knew her in the community. Jimmie loved people and never met a stranger. If she didn't know you, she would know everything about you in a short time. She never thought asking questions was being nosy. She preferred inquisitive and would say, "If you don't ask, you won't know." She enjoyed shopping and always loved finding bargains at the Dillard's sales. She believed if you wanted something, just treat yourself. She would always say, "You deserve it." She loved getting her nails done regularly to see her friends and catch up with "local community news." Jimmie was a loving and devoted Mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend. To know her was to love her, and she herself leaves a legacy of love. She was a wonderful book of life with many full and blessed chapters. Now, she is home with Jesus and many jewels in her crown. She was a long-time member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. Jimmie passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the age of 78 at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Harris and Jean and Joe Pierce; a brother, Ronald "Buddy" Harris; and great-nephew, Colby Ebarb. Jimmie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Greg Moody (Sha), and daughter, Kelly Cannon (Joe), all of White Hall; sister, Sharon Galloway (Jerry) of Springdale; grandchildren, Drew Moody of White Hall, Jon Michael Moody (Lauren) of Mayflower, Clay Cannon (Lauren) of Little Rock, Thomas Moody of White Hall, and Alec Hartz (Mia) of Fayetteville; great-grandson, Kayden Moody. She will also be missed by her dear nieces, Lisa Ebarb (Tim) and Lynn Clemons (Spencer); a very special nephew, Matt Stephens (Meredith); and several dearly loved great-nephews. Visitation will be held 12-1 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2023, with a celebration of her life following at 1:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church, White Hall, with the Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Tim Ebarb, a nephew, will speak, as well. Burial will follow in White Hall Methodist Cemetery by Robinson and Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel.
