Lela Shipman, a family nurse practitioner and founder of Open Door Health and Community Services in West Fork, organizes the lab in the newly opened clinic Monday, April 15, 2013, on the clinic's first day of operation. Shipman provides primary care at the clinic for individuals without health insurance for a small cash payment based upon their ability to pay and is staffed with volunteers. Shipman is working to establish a relationship with the University of Arkansas to provide a learning opportunity for nursing and graduate students. The clinic is located at 425 N. Centennial Ave. Suite A and is open Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
