JOHN DEERING CARTOON: You almost stepped in some 'Trump trade negotiations'

The polls are starting to show Trump losing even to some of the far left Democrats. He now wants to deport kids with cancer even if their parents came here with valid temporary visas or work permits. His administration also is denying citizenship to the children of some of our noncitizen military members. In my opinion, if you serve this country in uniform, you and your kids are entitled to citizenship. Everybody knows that Trump is a jerk and a creep. He did have the economy going for him, but that is starting to fade.

For Trump, sheen on Fox News loses some of its gleam

Of course, Trump is a Russian diplomat. He represents Putin--not us. Putin makes illegal campaign contributions to Trump and tries to attack our elections, and Trump just wants Russia to join the G7. Mitch McConnell is blocking every attempt to try to ensure the integrity of the 2020 elections. Trump knows that the only way he could win is for the Russians to skew the results.

Death penalty sought for couple in killing of 11-year-old Arkansas boy

That may happen anyway. I agree that they deserve death.

BRUMMETT ONLINE: A volley of arrows

He is sinking so far in the polls, that even one of Rbolt's leftist socialists may beat him. Of course, there is plenty of time for Republicans to get in. Trump is going down unless he starts taking meds or starts getting somebody sane to speak for him.

Bigotry? Trump is proposing taking away citizenship of children who are born here and children who are adopted by service people overseas. He is quite content that his foreign wives and their families get citizenship, but if you are brown, "tough luck". He insulted Puerto Ricans for getting another hurricane. Of course, if people in the red states get hurricanes or tornadoes that is understandable. Of course, brown people are to be insulted and spat upon. You and your Nazi president are the bigots.

Shouting again fills Little Rock schools meeting

Much of the money is going to underqualified administrators, underqualified teachers, governmental contracts with construction companies or other vendors, and financing deals with bond companies. Do not be snookered in with the "cost per student". Much of this money consists of political payoffs. There was so much graft in Little Rock. Many of the proposals for "educational improvements" are for shiny new buildings. The kids need teachers, teaching assistants, guidance counselors etc. You can learn so much in a decaying building.

BRUMMETT ONLINE: A volley of arrows

I hate to tell you but Trump is going down the tubes. Even the lefties are beating him in purple state matchups. Now, he criticizes the people of Puerto Rico for having a hurricane coming? Of course, he does not criticize red states for hurricanes and tornadoes! He keeps a Harvard student out of the country because he has "friends" on facebook who have criticized the US? Trump even told US troops that if they adopt babies from abroad that these babies will not be US citizens. Mr. Bonespurs racist wants his foreign model wives in, but if you are a soldier who adopts, tough luck. He is the biggest a$$ to ever be president and the polls are starting to show this.

Thank you, RBear. It also is important to know that educational status is not something that stays static. People can improve the schools. The D.C. schools are actually improving now. Many of the schools in Virginia and North Carolina used to be bad and have improved over the past two decades. There are good schools with good outcomes in poor areas. The Renaissance followed the Dark Ages. Things can get better if people work toward it.

Many kids of divorced parents or dysfunctional families do well if they go to good schools. (I did.) Yes, kids often emulate the behavior of their parents, but they sometimes emulate the behavior of other adult role models in their communities--often teachers, coaches etc. Schools do make a difference. Culture is not limited to what you learn from your parents; it is what you learn from others as well. Education in Arkansas is held back by this prevalent attitude that education does not matter. Other cultures which revere education have better economies and less crime.

I didn't blame "poverty" as much as I did bad schools. Educational outcome correlates to the hours performed reading, writing, and math. Socioeconomically deprived kids don't have parents at home who help them read etc. They must do this in schools. The problems here are that the kids are not always in school and that the teachers and administrators there are not properly trained as to how to teach. Discipline problems also can be overwhelming. Kids are passed to the next level without mastering the content of the current level. I've seen dirt poor kids whose parents are not well educated succeed because they attended great schools. Also, you and Packman overestimate how great some of the all white schools are. Educational attainment is a problem throughout much of Arkansas as is demonstrated by the low numbers of people with college degrees.
