Trump official: Statue of Liberty's poem is about Europeans

This is the new Trump version:
.
"Give me your privileged, your rich
Your one percenters yearning to pollute free,
Those ones with Tiki-torches yelling 'white power!"
Send these, the Russian Twitter bots to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden shower!"

Intruder fatally shot after kicking in door of Arkansas apartment, police say

Pack, please tell me why you think they are necessary. Do you own one?
.
True, but the shooters using something like the AR-15 are much more efficiently deadly with their killing than those that used a semi-automatic pistol. Look at the Las Vegas shooting where a guy was able to kill 50 and injure hundreds.
.
Background checks - Sure, but it would definitely make it much harder for those "bad guys" to get a gun. Who wouldn't want that?
.
Additional burdens? Oh you poor baby, you would have to fill out a form. Please explain how burdensome that is to the parents who planned funerals for their dead children after a mass shooting.
.
Oh a double-dog dare? I first asked how do you know that there wouldn't be a benefit to public safety. You are stating this as fact, when HOW DO YOU KNOW? I asked you first.

LOL at Mac you hypocrite. You say "don't put words in my mouth!" when you literally did that to me the comment before.
.
I know you're trying to divert away from the discussion by bringing up the 1st Amendment, but yeah, you can totally ask if certain types of speech are necessary before saying them. Like if you were going to bully someone online into committing suicide, you could ask if that is necessary (Incitement to violence and incitement to suicide are unprotected forms of speech under the 1st Amendment). Other types of free speech that are not protected, that you could consider if it's necessary to say, also include: False Statements of Fact, Certain forms of obscenity, child pornography, Fighting words and offensive speech, copyrights and trademarks and commercial speech.
.
So to answer your question, yes! Those are just a few restrictions that have been placed on the right to free speech under the 1st amendment. So perhaps there can also be restrictions placed on types of gun ownership under the 2nd amendment (maybe under that "well-regulated" part), right?

Mac - I used the word once. But you're saying there are no restrictions on free speech in this country?

Pack says: Define "assault style weapons" and explain why they are unnecessary? * Why don't you explain why they are necessary, other than you think they look cool. According to this article, a regular gun is effective in self-defense. How would the guns favored by mass shooters have made a difference here?
.
kindly explain why YOU get to determine what I or anyone else believes to be necessary. * Could say the same thing to you.
.
As to expanded background checks, they will in NO WAY "make sure" bad guys don't acquire weapons. * Untrue.
.
All universal background checks will do is place additional burden on law-abiding citizens. *Speculation.
.
in addition to violating constitutional amendments * Speculation
.
with no conclusive benefit to public safety. *How do you know?

Proposal to demolish 4 downtown Little Rock buildings, build parking lot deferred by month

The city needs to deny this, we've already lost so many of our older buildings to the wrecking ball. We do not need another parking lot that will sit empty on the weekends and at night.

Police seek clues in gunman's attack on festival

Mac, did you read that quote from the witness at the shooting? Here it is again in case you missed it: “"Contreras said there was one moment that she couldn't stop thinking about. When the gunfire broke out, she looked in the direction of the gunman and saw children fleeing an inflatable slide, all trying to squeeze through the same tiny exit."
.
Do you agree that is a particularly disturbing image (yes, even more than that of a person whistling)? I have a 3 year old who is still innocent and happy. Soon enough he will have active shooter drills at school. God forbid he ever has to run in fear while playing on an inflatable slide. Is that world ok with you?

Police seek clues in gunman's attack on festival

For all those here who endlessly claimed to care for the safety of children from hypothetical cross-dressing men in bathrooms (in order to trash LGBT rights), please read this sentence and tell me which is the bigger threat to children: "Contreras said there was one moment that she couldn't stop thinking about. When the gunfire broke out, she looked in the direction of the gunman and saw children fleeing an inflatable slide, all trying to squeeze through the same tiny exit."
.
Is this really the country you want these children to grow up in?

Gunman kills 2 kids, 1 other in California festival attack

The Dem-Zette Deplorable Commentators:
.
Any story about transgender issues: "Oh no, I can imagine a purely hypothetical situation with a young child sharing a bathroom with a 400 pound cross-dressing man! Do you not want to protect our children!?!?!
.
