"The Fourth Wall"

Peggy, a suburban housewife, decides to turn all her living room furniture toward a blank wall the theatrical "fourth wall" and anyone that enters the room begins to feel as if they are acting in a play, including bursting into Cole Porter songs. As her husband, Roger, and best friend, Julia, struggle with Peggy to find a 'plot' in all this, an 'expert' is called in Floyd, a drama professor from the local community college. "Life imitates art" gets a full circle workout, when Peggy proclaims there must be something more meaningful 'beyond that fourth wall,' and is determined to find out. Gurney, who wrote "The Dining Room" and "Love Letters," takes a hilarious look at the current state of theatre and the world, as he jabs at Bush, Clinton, politics, television, academia, New Yorkers, and even the Cola Wars in an attempt to encourage audiences to break through their own personal "fourth wall." Co-directed by Frank O. Butler and Mark Troillett, the cast includes Byron Taylor as Roger, Amanda Boggs as Julia, Juliana Flinn as Peggy, and Justin Pike as Floyd. "The Fourth Wall" is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
