YOUTH THEATRE REGISTRATION UNDERWAY
The Youth Theatre of Central Arkansas is accepting registration for its
upcoming summer program. The Youth Theatre offers unique, creative,
theatrical experiences for students entering grades 3 through 12 and is
sponsored by UCA Theatre and the UCA Theatre Foundation. Dates for the
program are June 22 through July 16 with a mandatory parent meeting on
Friday, June 19 at 4:30 pm in the Bridges/Larson Theatre of the Snow
Fine Arts Center on the UCA campus. Any student entering grades 3-12 is
eligible to attend regardless of any previous theatrical experience. The
Youth Theatre is under the direction of Ruthann Curry Browne.
Students who participate will present a play on July 15 and 16 at 7:00
pm in the Bridges/Larson Theatre. Students interested in technical
theatre are also encouraged to participate and may work backstage in a
number of capacities including stage managing, light board operators,
props, or other technical areas. Because students will immediately
audition and begin rehearsals, only those students who can attend all
rehearsals and performances from June 22 through July 16 are encouraged
to register.
The Youth Theatre is divided into two separate groups. The junior group
consists of students entering grades 3-6 and will meet Monday through
Friday from 9:00 am to noon. The senior group is made up of students
entering grades 7-12 and will meet Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to
4:00 pm. Each group will present its own play on July 15 and 16.
Fees are $275 per student if paid on or before June 12, 2009. Fees for
students registering between June 13 and June 19 are $300. Due to the
nature of the rehearsal process, students may not participate after June
22. Refund and cancellation policies are included on the registration
form.
