YOUTH THEATRE REGISTRATION CONTINUES
The Youth Theatre of Central Arkansas is now accepting registration for
its upcoming summer theatre program. The Youth Theatre is celebrating 20
years of unique, creative, theatrical experiences for students entering
grades 3 through 12 and is sponsored by UCA Theatre and the UCA Theatre
Foundation.
Dates for the program are June 21 through July 15 with a mandatory
parent meeting on Friday, June 18 at 4:30 pm in the Bridges/Larson
Theatre of the Snow Fine Arts Center on the UCA campus, 201 Donaghey in
Conway. Any student entering grades 3-12 in the Fall, 2010 is eligible
to attend regardless of any previous theatrical experience. The Youth
Theatre is under the direction of Ruthann Curry Browne.
Students who participate will present a play on July 14 and 15 at 7:00
pm in the Bridges/Larson Theatre. Students interested in technical
theatre are also encouraged to participate and may work backstage in a
number of capacities including stage managing, light board operators,
props, or other technical areas. Because students will immediately
audition and begin rehearsals, only those students who can attend all
rehearsals and performances from June 21 through July 15 are encouraged
to register.
The Youth Theatre is divided into two separate groups. The junior group
consists of students entering grades 3-6 and will meet Monday through
Friday from 9:00 am to noon. The senior group is made up of students
entering grades 7-12 and will meet Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to
4:00 pm. Each group will present its own play on July 14 and 15.
Fees are $275 per student if paid on or before June 14, 2010. Fees for
students registering between June 15 and June 21 are $300. Due to the
nature of the rehearsal process, students may not participate after June
21. Refund and cancellation policies are included on the registration
form.
