BA/BFA JURIED SENIOR EXHIBITION SET FOR APRIL 14-28 AT UCA’S BAUM GALLERY By Rachel McAdams College of Fine Arts and Communication Media Office The spring 2011 BA/BFA Juried Senior Exhibition, an exhibition by graduating University of Central Arkansas art majors, will be available for viewing at UCA’s Baum Gallery of Fine Art April 14-28. Opening receptions for the exhibition will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 4-6 p.m. and Sunday, April 17, from 2-4 p.m. in McCastlain Hall’s Baum Gallery. The exhibition and both receptions are free and open to the public. Prices of works for sale are provided as part of the exhibition. “The BA/BFA Juried Senior Show is exciting for several reasons, but mostly because it is the students’ final competitive in their university career: it features their best and latest work and gives evidence of their hard work,” Barbara Satterfield, director of the Baum Gallery, said. All students seeking either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the department must participate in a senior exhibit to meet graduation requirements. This exhibition will feature the work of 14 BA and two BFA undergraduates and will include painting, sculpture, photography, drawings, illustration and graphic design. To display work in the exhibit, both BA and BFA students must present their work and have it accepted by art faculty review panels. The semester before the exhibit, BFA students must submit to art faculty proposals to create a body of work that focuses on a specific idea. After the idea is accepted by the faculty, the students receive faculty guidance through the creation process. Bachelor of Arts majors in Studio Art and Art Education include Brett Anderson of Royal, son of Bre and David Harris; Elizabeth Arnold of Conway, daughter of Laura Clark; Jessica Brown of Morrilton, daughter of Debbie Brown; Geraldine Cazales of Hot Springs, daughter of Reyna Cazales; Brittany Ford of Little Rock, daughter of Chinita and Louis Ford; Heidi Gilliom of Wooster, daughter of Nancy and Rob Gillion; Drew Hearne of North Little Rock, son of Kim Mangold and Dustin Hearne; Amber Lea of Russellville, daughter of Stacy and Bill Rowlett and Lesley and Ancil Lea III; Emily McClendon of Cabot, daughter of Carolyn and Jim McClendon; Chelsie Morgan of Texarkana, daughter of Karen and Alvin Morgan; Zachary Noland of Morrilton, son of Charles Noland; Marianne Nolley of Little Rock, daughter of Anne and Lance Nolley; Meagan Wekman of Greenbrier, daughter of Michelle and Danny Wekman; and Sandra Worm of Adona, daughter of Winona and Gary Worm. Bachelor of Fine Arts majors and their studio emphases include Kara Primm (Graphics) of Texarkana, Texas, daughter of Maria and Robert Primm; and Emily Powell (Graphics) of Jonesboro, daughter of Delbert Powell. Hours for the Baum Gallery are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. For more information, contact Barbara Satterfield, director of the Baum Gallery of Fine Art, at (501) 450-5793 or barbaras@uca.edu.
