Tobacco companies sue government over warning labels

I'm not a smoker, but don't you think the examples the government wants to use are a bit barbaric? We, the taxpayers, have spent enough on educating people about the hazards of smoking and enough is enough! If folks haven't gotten the message by now then Uncle Sam needs to shut up! I would prefer to collect the dividends from stocks such as Altria (MO) rather than paying a Congressperson's salary any day.

63 killed as wave of violence rolls across Iraq

When are we going to learn that we cannot secure any part of that world? We should have never gone there to begin with. Maybe we need to try to elect a man such as Ron Paul who believes that we need to mind our own business.

UPDATE: Yarnell's ceasing operations; 200 let go

I would pay twice as much for Yarnell's over Blue Bell or Blue Bunny or any other product that is or has ever been on the market! Yarnell's frozen yogurt can NEVER be equalled!! This is a sad day for the company, it's employees, and especially the consumer.

UPDATE: House rejects measure to continue US role in Libya

Perhaps the enemy is our inability to mind our own business. And we certainly don't have the money that is being continually thrown into that part of the world.

US jet crashes in Libya

We don't know why we are there or what we hope to accomplish, and now we begin to see tangible losses that we can't possibly hope to pay for. But why not go for it whatever it is?

Somali pirate gets more than 33 years in prison

I think it's great that one of these folks is finally getting what he deserves, but I am also troubled by what this man will learn while incacerated on U.S. soil. Let us hope his Tom-Toms don't reach all the way back to his homeland.

Chesapeake Energy to sell all Fayetteville Shale assets

Today, Chinese oil giant CNOOC announced it's buying stakes in several shale oil and gas leases owned by Chesapeake Energy for $570 million. The deal entitles CNOOC to a 33% stake in Chesapeake leases covering 800,000 acres in northeast Colorado and southeast Wyoming. CNOOC will also fund two-thirds of Chesapeake's share of drilling and other costs up to $697 million.

The deal is similar to the October 2010 CNOOC-Chesapeake arrangement where the Chinese company bought one-third of Chesapeake's 600,000-acre Eagle Ford shale project for $1.08 billion. (This marked the first major investment by a China state-run company in onshore U.S. energy reserves.)
