Enough is Enough: Little Rock Teen Rallies at State Capitol for an End to Teen Violence
Enough is Enough: Little Rock Teen Rallies at State Capitol for an End to
Teen Violence
WHO: Stephen Green, senior at Episcopal Collegiate School; Leifel Jackson,
former gang leader and current director of R.O.C.A.N. (Reaching Our Children
and Neighborhoods); Steven Jones, deputy director, Department of Human
Services; Steve Nawojczyk, program administrator, Division of Youth
Services; Arkansas youth and teens
WHAT: Enough is Enough Rally: Stop the Violence
Enough is Enough provides Arkansas youth the opportunity to unite on the
steps of the state capitol to speak out against teen violence and bullying.
Green is organizing the rally to raise awareness about teen violence and
bullying, and to encourage positive actions to end violence among teens.
WHEN: Sunday, October 18, 3-5 p.m.
WHERE: At the steps of the Arkansas State Capitol, Capitol Avenue, Little
Rock
WHY: Green was inspired to take action this summer after hearing a news
report about the arrest of four Arkansas teenagers in connection with an
alleged homicide.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Report, in
2007 Arkansas ranked 32nd out of 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia
in total population. However, the state ranked 13th in violent crimes and
12th in murders.
Statistics provided by the Arkansas Crime Information Center in 2007
reported that 10.8 percent of all people arrested in connection with violent
crimes were under the age of 18.
Green hopes that those who come to the Enough is Enough Rally will be
motivated to help end teen violence in their communities.
