Swing Band Reunion

Swing Band Reunion October 18 Enjoy the Big Band Sounds of Yesteryear. Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, 2200 Kavanaugh Blvd, Little Rock will present the Swing Band Reunion on Sunday afternoon, October 18 at 2 PM. The free concert will be held in Hicks Hall and the community is invited to attend. Members of the Swing Band Reunion are former classmates and members of the original Little Rock Central High School swing band in the 1950s. They play the beautiful ballroom classics that poured forth from real dance orchestras in the 1940s and 1950s. Their repertoire includes “Tuxedo Junction”, “In the Mood”, “Moonlight Serenade” and “The Way You Look Tonight”. The popular sounds of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller come to life again. Vocalist Nan Renaud sings the great lyrics that are part of this legacy. The eighteen members of Swing Band Reunion had been out of touch for over forty years, when two members began corresponding about the idea of reuniting the group to rehearse and perform. They performed for the church at an event several months ago, and it was so successful that the church decided to present the group again and invite the community to enjoy it as well. Free parking is available on the church’s back parking lot off Cedar Hill Road. For more information please contact Carolyn Staley at 661-1129.
