Bonnie Montgomery, Montgomery Trucking to perform free concert at AETN CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — Bonnie Montgomery and Montgomery Trucking will perform a free concert at the Arkansas Educational Television Network studios Thursday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. for an upcoming episode of “AETN Presents: On the Front Row.” The public is invited to this free performance, which will be taped for broadcast at a later date. Anyone interested in being part of the audience is asked to R.S.V.P. at www.aetn.org/rsvp and arrive at the studio by 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 26. AETN is located at 350 South Donaghey in Conway. Arkansas native Bonnie Montgomery is a formally trained musician who mixes country, folk and opera. Montgomery Trucking blends guitar, kazoo and mandolin for an eclectic mix of music that has been described as a cross between country, hillbilly and folk. Montgomery Trucking features Iowa native Cade Shera on mandolin, Australia native Justin McGoldrick on guitar, Little Rock native Jimmy Young on upright bass, and Aaron Baker and Holly Montgomery on back-up vocals. Montgomery will sing excerpts from her highly anticipated project “Billy Blythe,” a short-length opera set in 1950’s Hot Springs about the culture and landscape of southern Arkansas that shaped the adolescence of former president Bill Clinton. The work’s name comes from Clinton’s birth name, which he changed at age 16. Accompanying Montgomery Trucking for the “Billy Blythe” excerpts will be John Willis on piano. “AETN Presents” features a variety of arts and cultural subjects. Previously included in the series have been the Arkansas Acoustic Festival; performances by the Cate Brothers, Trout Fishing in America, the Shannon Boshears Band, Wayland Holyfield and Friends, The Salty Dogs and Epiphany; and “On the Same Page” with authors Buzz Bissinger, Billy Collins, John T. Edge and Kenneth L. Smith.
