Jana Pochop will open the show with her unique and upbeat acoustic songs, followed by local blues-rock favorite Shannon Boshears. Then, Susan Gibson (Dixie Chicks “Wide Open Spaces”) will give Little Rock a glimpse into high-caliber songwriting and storytelling at its best.

Susan Gibson
NEW DOG, OLD TRICKS is Susan Gibson's latest studio release on Smith Entertainment Records. The 15 original tracks can be described as a personal journal taken over the last decade by a songwriter savvy enough to land one of the biggest-selling singles in country music history. Written during Gibson's college days in Missoula, Montana, "Wide Open Spaces" became (years later) the title track to the Dixie Chicks' major label debut in 1998. The smash hit was #1 on the Billboard country charts for 4 straight weeks and won the CMA Award for Single of the Year in 1999. Each song was handpicked and freshly prepared in a fluid production that can only be created by Walt Wilkins, a fifth generation Texan singer/songwriter/producer whose music has been compared to the great writers of his time including John Steinbeck. Jana Pochop (yes, the "h" is silent) was born on a cold, November day in South Dakota and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Now she is a singer-songwriter in Austin, Texas who has set out to prove that a history degree does not mean certain professional death if she turns it into some good songs.
Jana's been changing her strings a lot this past year with residencies at various Austin venues, sharing the stage with Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines, and touring the U.S. with CMA Songwriter of the Year Susan Gibson. She was also a Ballad Tree Selected Regional Performer at the 2009 Kerrville Folk Festival. Her EP, "The Early Year," was produced by Daniel Barrett from Austin band porterdavis. Shannon Boshears
Since the late 1980’s, Shannon has been a favorite in the club scene around Arkansas. Her wide ranging, distinctive and gutsy vocal ability is a showcase of her love for various soul, blues, and rock styles on which she accompanies herself by chunking out rhythms and leads on her guitar. Depending on the venue, you can find her playing acoustically with Lori Stidham on Bass and Walter K. on guitar. When they add Charlie Macon on drums, they go electric and rock out from small bars and pubs to large music festivals like the Arkansas River Blues Festival and The King Biscuit Blues Festival.
The Shannon Boshears Band has carved out their own musical groove that can be seen and heard on any given night in which they are performing. In 2001, she released of her first full length CD, “Chicksinger.” Shannon showcased twelve original tracks that featured rocked-up, guitar driven, solid songs with as much diversity as her musical tastes. From that CD, the track “If Anybody Asks You” was picked up as the title track to the Ashley Judd film, “Come Early Morning.”
In November 2008, Shannon released “Black Mascara” which is a definitive collection of soul country blues. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette said about the CD, “Overall, the compositions are as rich as a buttery peach cobbler and as satisfying as buttermilk biscuits and white gravy.”
In 2009, a 30-minute concert was filmed, AETN Presents Front Row with The Shannon Boshears Band, and has been airing on Arkansas’ local public television station. Currently, Boshears is writing material for her next CD release.
