OLT HOLDS OPEN AUDITIONS FOR MUSICAL BYE-BYE-BIRDIE
WHAT: Open auditions for acting, singing, dancing, musicians, and backstage crew parts in the 1960’s musical Bye-Bye-Birdie to be performed April 22-25 and May 1-3, 2010 at the Ouachita Little Theatre (OLT)

BACKGROUND: Bye-Bye Birdie, a very successful play on both Broadway and in London, was written in 1960 by Mitchell Stewart. It is a satirical romantic comedy loosely based on the story of Elvis Presley being inducted into the US Army in 1958. There are a number of parts for actors, singers and dancers in variety of age groups plus for members of the chorus and orchestra. It has been revived and is actually on Broadway in New York City at this time.
Ouachita Little Theatre (OLT) will be holding auditions for the April/May OLT musical Bye-Bye-Birdie on Tuesday through Thursday, February 16 - 18 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and on Saturday, February 20 from Noon to 5:00 PM at Rich Mountain Community College in the lecture hall.
Auditions will be video-taped. Candidates for major rolls should be prepared to sing a solo song of their choosing. All candidates will be asked to read a portion of the script. Candidates auditioning for minor rolls will be tested for vocal range only. Results will be announced by 4 pm on Monday, Feb 22.
The play will be performed on April 22 - 25 and May 1 - 3, 2010 at the OLT at 610 Mena Street.
