Events in Parkin Archeological State Park during January

Parkin Archeological State Park in Parkin will host a Primitive Pottery Workshop on Jan. 9. Learn how Native Americans from the region used local clays and primitive methods to make useful pots. Participants will make their own pottery using natural materials from the nearby St. Francis River. On Jan.16, join the park staff for a Go Native with Soap Making Workshop, where participants will make their own soap, and explore local flora that early Arkansans may have used in soap making. On Jan. 23, the park will host a Primitive Weapons Workshop, focusing on how Native American weaponry expanded and evolved over the years.
