Thursday, March 25 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Spring Canoe Float Take off from the Little Maumelle boat launch and experience the beauty of spring on this guided 4-1/2 mile float. Advance payment required. Meeting place: Little Maumelle Boat Launch Admission: $30 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Spring Tree Hike Spring is nearly here, and the trees are bursting with vivid shades of green. Experience the beauty of spring in the forest firsthand through a guided stroll with Park Interpreter Kristina along the Little Maumelle River. Meeting place: Kingfisher Trailhead Admission: Free 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Meet at the Peak Climb Pinnacle Mountain and explore the upland ridges. At the peak, meet with Park Interpreter Kristina to discover the diverse habitats of Pinnacle Mountain State Park and get a birds-eye view of the lowland forest. Meeting place: Pinnacle Mountain Summit Admission: Free 2 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Nature Games Shhhh...it's educational! Have fun while learning about Pinnacle Mountain State Park and native Arkansas animals at the picnic area. Join Park Interpreter Susan as she pulls out her favorite park games for some family fun! Meeting place: West Summit Picnic Area Admission: Free 4 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Turtle Time Have you ever wondered about all those turtles on the logs in the river? Join us for an up close & personal visit with our native turtles. Park Interpreter Kristina will point out which ones are true snappers and introduce you to some of our live turtles. Meeting place: Picnic Area Admission: Free 5:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. Batty For Bats Do bats suck blood and get caught in your hair? Join Park Interpreter Susan for a short talk about bats where we will explore some of the common myths about bats. Meeting place: West Summit Picnic Area Admission: Free 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. Spring Stargazing Park Interpreter Susan will be kicking off Pinnacle Mountain State Park's stargazing season! A sure sign that spring has sprung, stargazing programs are fun for the whole family. We will be searching the starry skies for constellations, planets, satellites, and more! Bring your whole family, lawn chairs or a blanket, insect repellent, and one flashlight for your group. Meeting place: Overflow Parking Area Entrance Admission: Free Friday, March 26 9 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Nature Games Children and adults learn about nature and have some fun. Meet Park Interpreter Courtney to play some nature games. Meeting place: Picnic Area Admission: Free 11 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Mammals of Arkansas Have you ever felt the fur of the many mammals that call Arkansas home? Meet a park interpreter and discover the variety of mammals that can be seen in and around Pinnacle Mountain State Park. Meeting place: West Summit Trailhead Admission: Free 12:30 p.m. - 1 p.m. Trail Safety Learn how to keep you and your family safe while hiking the beautiful trails of Arkansas state parks. We will discover what you should carry with you, identify potential hazards you may encounter, and what to do if you get lost. Wear sturdy shoes as we will be hiking a very short section of trail! Meeting place: West Summit Trailhead Admission: Free 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Home school Days: Spring Wildflowers Experience a leisurely hike in the woods as we hunt for those elusive early spring wildflowers with Park Interpreter Kristina. We’ll take time to learn the parts of a flower, why they are special, and learn some easy ones to identify in your backyard. We won’t be picking any wildflowers, but we will do a wildflower craft at the end to take home. Meeting place: Arkansas Arboretum Admission: Free 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Twilight Hayride Take a hayride through fields and woods followed by a cozy campfire. Blankets and snuggling recommended, advance payment required. Meet Park Interpreter Kristina at the Kingfisher Trailhead for a guided hunt for clues left by some of the parks wildlife. We’ll learn how to identify a few animal signs and watch for some live animals in the wild as we go. Meeting place: Kingfisher Trailhead Admission: Free 2 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. A Rocky Subject Rocks are not only the foundation of Pinnacle Mountain, but also the foundation of our civilization. Meet with Park Interpreter Kristina to explore ways we use rocks everyday and find out if they come from Pinnacle Mountain. Meeting place: West Summit Trailhead Admission: Free Sunday, March 28 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Habitat Hike Explore the many habitats all found within the 1/2 mile Kingfisher Trail with Park Interpreter Susan! You may be surprised what you've missed, even if you've hiked this trail many times before. The Kingfisher Trail is paved, ADA accessible, and stroller friendly. Bring your whole family outdoors to experience the wonders of the lowland forest together! Meeting place: Kingfisher Trailhead Admission: Free 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Early Spring Flowers Experience a leisurely hike in the woods as we hunt for those elusive early spring wildflowers. Meet Park Interpreter Kristina at the Little Maumelle Boat Launch. If we’re lucky we’ll see blood root, trout lilies and of course lots of spring beauties. Meeting place: Little Maumelle Boat Launch Admission: Free 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Kite Flying Competition Do you have a kite that flies high? Bring your kite out for some fun competition in the park featuring some amazing prizes! This is a great family-friendly activity.
