Programs, Tours, & Activities Welcome to Lake Catherine State Park March 26-28 Enjoy your stay at Arkansas’s first lake state park this weekend by attending a few of our scheduled activities. All activities listed below are free, and open to anyone who wants to attend. So visit with Park Interpreter Julie and experience Lake Catherine first hand… at our interpretive programs!! (Program times are approximate, please arrive on time.) Friday, March 26th 2 p.m. Arkansas Bingo (30 min) Want to learn more about the Natural State? Come to the nature cabin and play a round of BINGO that is all about Arkansas! 4 p.m. Sand Art (15 min) Here is a chance to create your own sand art painting of your favorite scene at Lake Catherine State Park. All ages are welcome. Meet at the nature cabin. 7 p.m. Be A Beaver (30 min) Extend your Arkansas animal knowledge and come learn about this fun and furry animal. You can even try to be one! Meet Park Interpreter Julie at the amphitheater. Saturday, March 27th 1 p.m. Kayaking Adventure (1 ½ hours) Join Asst. Supt. Cheryl at the marina for a kayaking adventure. No experience necessary. We will cover the basics of kayaking and see the park in a whole new way. The fee is $15 per participant, kayak, paddle, and Life jackets will be provided. Spaces are limited so you must preregister and pre-pay at the Visitor’s Center. 7 p.m. Dutch Oven Demonstration (30 min) Let’s learn about the lost art of outdoor Dutch oven cooking. Meet Asst. Supt. Cheryl at the fire ring near the amphitheater to learn how the pioneers depended on the cooking utensils, how to regulate temperature, and the history of the Dutch oven. If that doesn’t entice you, maybe a little peach cobbler will. Sunday, March 28th 11:30 a.m. Lake Tour (1 hour) Enjoy a relaxing and scenic cruise on Lake Catherine! Discover the history of the lake, see Lake Catherine’s wildlife, and view the Remmel Dam. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early, because the boat must depart on time. Space is limited to 14 people. First come, First serve. Sign up at the Visitor Center. Meet at the marina. 2 p.m. Butterfly Bonanza (20 min) Meet the park interpreter at the nature cabin to take home your very own spring pollinator. 4 p.m. Bird Concentration (30 min) Meet Park Interpreter Julie at the nature cabin to play a fun game of concentration and see if you can remember many of the birds we have here at Lake Catherine.
