Life in Bold, Bright Colors: Local Student Presents Art Show, March 30

Monticello resident and Henderson State University’s graduating senior, Haleigh Farmer, makes her artistic debut on March 30, 2010. The Digital Art and Design major is exhibiting and selling a variety of media she has been working with throughout her recent college career including; graphic designs, digital manipulations, 3D pieces, screen printing, and photography. The opening reception for her show, Saturated Visions, is on Tuesday March 30, from 2pm-4pm on the second floor of Henderson State’s Huie Library in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The show will be available for viewing through April 9. Throughout her studies, bold, bright colors have played a significant role within each of her pieces. Farmer is drawn to bright, eye-catching colors. She uses dark backgrounds and bright colors because the contrast makes elements stand out. She uses these color combinations in her digital pieces, screen prints, and photography. Farmer creates digital pieces by using other elements of her artwork. For example, she created a three-piece digital series in which she used images of her ceramic pieces. She also included poetry lyrics, and of course, her signature bright colors. These pieces are entitled Karma, Feels Like a Strait Jacket, and Like a Ball and Chain. She says, “I try to create work that is eye-catching to me, and in turn, appealing to others.” Farmer graduates in May of 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Digital Art and Design. She currently resides in her hometown Monticello, Arkansas.
