The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Continues at the Royal Theatre Welcome to London, the year of our Lord 1888. Here we will follow the exploits of one Dr. Jekyll as he explores the wonders and horrors of transcendental medicine. This is a classic story with which we are all familiar. We all know of the goodness of Dr. Jekyll and the evil of Mr. Hyde. In this version of the story, Noah Smith, the writer, has chosen to approach Robert Louis Stevenson’s story as a “suspenseful tale of science fiction” rather than as a classical horror story. Director Randall Earnest and his production crew (Assistant Directors Tiana Freeman and Koty Mansfield, Producer Lisa Goodrich and Costumer Melissa Earnest) have chosen to throw yet another twist into this modern day fairy tale in the form of “Steam Punk,” steam- powered science fiction blended with pulp noir with a dash of Victorian romanticism. The play stars Tim Sopel as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Brian Williams as Gabriel Utterson, Brian Roberson as Hastie Lanyon, Joshua McGuire as Richard Enfield, Jessica Eubanks as Helen O'Neill, Vivian Murray as Cybel, Tori Nicholas as the Maid, Mauro Segura as the Butler and Heidi Sohl as Ivy. Rounding out the cast are Tierney Earnest, Gabrielle Sharp, Grayson Dumas and Hannah Baker. Performance dates are October 14-17 and October 21-24 at the Royal Theatre, 111 S. Market St. in Downtown Benton. Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7 pm; Saturday matinees are at 2:00 pm. Ticket prices are $10 adults, $8 seniors, $5 students. Tickets may be purchased at theroyalplayers.com or at the door. For more information, call 501-315-5483. The play is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. (www.playscripts.com) and sponsored by The Saline Courier.
