As a result, three years later in 2007, Ferdos Ebrahimifar organized the first Sibling Show in Seyhoun Gallery in Los Angeles, Ca. The upcoming exhibition at Boswell Mourot Fine Art, opening October 9th with the second event featuring the work of all four members of the multi-talented Ebrahimifar Family. Masoud (1951) – London, England Ferdos (1953) – Los Angeles, Ca. USA Saeid (1955) – Tehran, Iran Hamid (1958) – Little Rock, AR. USA MASOUD Ebrahimifar was born in Tehran Iran, eldest of four children Masoud grew up in a large household with his mother’s extended family. His grandfather spent every fall and winter with his family reading and writing poetry, and his uncles introduced him to literature, classical music, painting, and architecture. Being influenced by creative people from an early age, Masoud believed the beauty of the world can only be experienced through the creation of beautiful spaces. He remembers at the age of six having selected a single floor tile in a quiet corner of his grandfather’s home as square one for creating his own beautiful space. At age seven for his first commissioned work he created a set of doll house furniture for the daughter of one of his father’s colleagues, using cork and metal scraps from his father’s factory. He moved to London in 1977 and completed his studies in painting and printing at the Byam Shaw School of Arts. Masoud continues to live in London with his wife Shahzrad and daughters, Elvina and Elica. He continues to design furniture and paint and is responsible for designing four restaurants in the UK and Germany. He has held exhibitions of his paintings in the UK and US. Masoud says his work is influenced by his personal experiences as he closely follows the political and social changes in Iran. The collection that will be presented in the exhibition at Boswell Mourot Fine Art portrays the suspended lives of those who hold the key to a free Iran. FERDOS Ebrahimifar was born in her grandmother’s house in Tehran, Iran. From her early childhood she was surrounded by an eclectic group of close relatives, all of whom had a passion for the arts. Her grandfather was a poet, her uncle a novelist, and another uncle an aficionado of renaissance paintings and sculptures. Her family was definitely instrumental in propelling Ferdos down the path of an artist. “Painting is a sanctuary for me, a portal that takes me back to the purity of childhood, a time I remember fondly. A time when there was no revolution, no war, no divorce and no disagreements….” “I am still trying to fully capture and communicate the tenderness and delicateness of moments as I remember them, the tenderness of a jasmine flower in the morning dew is one of my fondest memories. I try to create the essence of that feeling with my paintings” EXHIBITIONS: Art Basel Miami & Art Fair Week – Miami, Fl. Group Exhibition Seyhoun Gallery – Los Angeles, Ca. I have become even more sensitive to this global issue of late. My sensitivity was amplified last year, as I witnessed, first hand, the disputed Iranian Election, the courageous and popular uprising that rose to challenge the declared victor, and the horrendously vicious and violent reaction of the police and the paramilitaries. Women stood in front of their sons and brothers as the riot police closed in around them and took the brunt of the brutality. Yet they did not retreat. I hope to tell a small part of their story, visually… My paintings share in a small way that aspect of an organic growth. Every single one of my paintings has grown, layer by layer, stroke by stroke, like a living thing. The finished product was often unknowable to me. I was thrilled to see the work grow as each layer was added, imperceptibly contributing a fraction to the whole that would eventually become what you see today.” Fredos Ebrahimifar SAEED Ebrahimifar is a well-know film director in Iran. “Nar-O-Nay”, the film he made in 1988 was shown and awarded in many international film festivals. He studied film at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and graduated in 1980. His video that is featured in the Exhibition at Boswell Mourot Fine Art Gallery is entitled “Taghche”, meaning “Ledge” – which is an important architectural element of a traditional Iranian house, it is a narrow shelf or molding attached to a wall that serves a decorative or protective purpose. HAMID Ebrahimifar is an Iranian-American artist who came to the US to attend college in 1976. He grew up in Tehran Iran in a family of artists, many of whom have been major influences on his work. His grandfather, a bricklayer and poet, exposed him to poetry from an early age. His uncle, a writer, brought books and conversations, and all three of his older siblings, major influences during his childhood, are involved in different mediums of artistic expression today. In the upcoming exhibition at Boswell Mourot Fine Art Gallery Hamid used current issues as the undertones of his work. He explores the idea of the human body as an architectural structure to reflect the human struggle for balance in the midst of turbulent times. Hamid has taught at the Arkansas Arts Center since 1988, and he also serves as the artist in residence at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where children have influenced his own art. His work with children has deepened his own interest in and commitment to community participation in art. He lives in Little Rock with his family: Kate, Anna, Tiger and Rocky
