JAZZ, JOY, JUMPING JUBILATION AT SPA CITY Jazz enthusiasts mark your calendars for a late summer vacation fling at the 19th annual Hot Springs JazzFest, running from September 14th thru the 19th of 2010. Get those excitement glands ready to see and hear truly original American music, JAZZ. This embraceable vacation city will be smoking with big bands, ensembles, groups, trios, outstanding soloists and of course, accompanied by great vocalists. The Jazz Festival kicks off on Tuesday, September 14th Joy of Jazz…Sophisticated Swing at the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa. It continues throughout the week with featured entertainers such as the Navy Big Band, Astral Project from New Orleans, keyboardist Phyllis Emert, Happy Tymes Dixieland Band, Arkansas Jazz Orchestra, ATM with Mel Martin (sax), Scott Whitfield (trombone), and Paul Shaw (drums). Rufus Reid will be with Inside Out and in the middle of the mix will be the queen of southern jazz and blues, Shirley Chauvin. The festival will include musical clinics with numerous professional musicians, most notably Paul Shaw, Mel Martin, Steve Masakowski, and Scott Whitfield, all four also featured at the FREE outdoor festival on Saturday. The festival will conclude on Sunday, September 19th with Jazz Mass at St. Luke’s at 10:45 am. And of course there is much, much more, more, more. You’ll have to be here.
