August Exhibition Features the works of Darlene McNeely River Valley Arts Center, 1001 East B Street, Russellville will host an artist reception Sunday, August 7, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. to give the public an opportunity to meet the exhibiting local artist, Darlene McNeely, and hear her gallery talk. Admission to the reception and the Arts Center Gallery is free. The exhibit will remain open to the public throughout the month of August from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays. Darlene is an accomplished artist who started taking art lessons in 1975 as a result of a gift from her son James who purchased a paint set and signed her up for lessons. She continued to take lessons in several mediums and attended workshops from many renowned artists across the US. She became certified in several mediums and methods of art and started teaching workshops in Phoenix, AZ. A short time after attending her first national convention, Darlene started teaching at them. Darlene became active in the local artist community when she and her husband, James, retired to Russellville in 2000. She teaches at the Arts Center and ATU College of Community Outreach and is available to teach nationally and internationally. She also accepts commissions. Darlene is listed in the Manchester book of “Who’s Who” in the Artist Category. She serves as a judge in local competitions.
