Savor the Natural State at the Arkansas Flavors Farm to Table dinner

LITTLE ROCK – Join chef and award-winning food author Deborah Madison on Friday, Feb. 25, at the Peabody Hotel ballroom for the Arkansas Flavors Farm to Table Dinner, an event featuring the best of local produce prepared by The Peabody’s culinary staff. The event is sponsored by the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show, the Certified Arkansas Farmers Markets, the Arkansas Farmers Market Association, and The Peabody Hotel. “In addition to offering a chance to enjoy ingredients grown by Arkansas farmers, proceeds from the dinner support college scholarships for horticulture and landscape architecture students in our state, as well as community beautification grants through the Greening of Arkansas program,” said Krista Quinn, executive director of the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show. Cash bar available. After dinner, Madison will talk about “Why Farm to Table is a Great Idea.” Madison is the founding chef of San Francisco’s Greens restaurant and a former farmers market manager. She is author of 11 books, including “Local Flavors,” “Cooking and Eating from Americas Farmers’ Markets,” and “Seasonal Fruit Desserts from Orchard, Farm and Market.” Her bestselling books have won numerous awards, including four James Beard awards, the MFK Fisher Mid-Career Award, the Andre Simon Prize, and twice, the Julia Child Cookbook of the Year. She is married to an Arkansan, Patrick McFarlin. Madison will also be among the speakers at the 2011 Arkansas Flower and Garden Show, “Gardening through the Years,” is scheduled for Feb. 25-27 at the State House Convention Center in Little Rock.
