"A Few Good Men”
The Community Theatre of Little Rock presents Aaron Sorkin’s military courtroom drama "A Few Good Men,” directed by Frank O. Butler, on February 18th, 19th, 25th, 26th, March 4th, and 5th, at 7:30pm, and February 20th, 27th and March 6th at 2pm, at the Public Theatre, located at 616 Center Street , next to Horn’s in downtown Little Rock .
Admission is $14 for adults, $12 for military, students and seniors age 65 and over, $12 for groups of 10 or more, and free of charge for children age 6 and under. Seating is limited, so reservations are highly recommended. To make a reservation, call 501-410-ACT3 (501-410-2283). Unclaimed reserved seats will be released 10 minutes prior to show time. Doors open one hour prior to show time. Cash and checks only – no credit/debit cards accepted.
There will be a ‘Pocket Price Preview’ of the show February 17th at 7:30pm. Admission is whatever the patron can pay, but seating is strictly first-come, first-serve; no reservations will be taken for this special performance.
“A Few Good Men” tells the tale of two U.S. Marines, Dawson (Chris Boggs) and Downey (Andrew Stanley), who are accused of accidently killing another Marine, Private Santiago (Joshua Watkins) during a disciplinary action called a “Code Red”. Their defense team is Lt. j.g. Kaffee (Ricco Andemagni), a Navy lawyer more at home making plea bargains than courtroom arguments; Lt. Cmdr. Galloway (Heather Smith), whose passion for the law outweighs her experience; and Lt. j.g. Weinberg (Randall Earnest), who dislikes the defendants for reasons of his own. Soon, they discover a cover-up that reaches as high as the Marines’ commanding officers, Lt. Kendrick (Evan Tanner), Capt. Markinson (Mark Troillett), and Lt. Colonel Jessep (Scott Minor). Soon, Kaffee must defend his clients in court against Lt. Ross (Terry Harrison) and a mounting conspiracy to hide the truth.
Others in the cast include Thomas Sullivan, Brian Roberson, Don Francis, Tommy Heath, Brent Wood, Aaron Bunch, Steve Heaton and Benjamin Filbert.
Aaron Sorkin adapted his 1989 Broadway play for the 1992 film version, directed by Rob Reiner, and starring Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Keifer Sutherland and Kevin Pollack. The film was nominated for 4 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is synonymous with the phrase “You can’t handle the truth!”, as delivered by Nicholson as Lt. Colonel Jessup. Sorkin’s other screenplays include “The American President,” “Charlie Wilson’s War” and the ‘Facebook’ movie “The Social Network,” for which he recently won the 2011 Golden Globe award for best screenplay. He also created and wrote for the television series “The West Wing”, which won 27 Emmy Awards, including four for Outstanding Drama Series.
