acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter Jacob Johnson

The Big Chill in Hot Springs is proud to present acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter Jacob Johnson in concert on November 3rd at 8pm. The concert is part of the Dragonfly Songwriter Series held on the first Thursday of every month, hosting performers from across the country. This event has become quite popular locally and the songwriting community is grateful to The Big Chill and to owner, Gina Parks, for embracing the art and craft of songwriting. Jacob Johnson is a young ,energetic performer and South Carolina native who has shared stages with songwriting masters Edwin McCain and and David Wilcox, and hangs out with guitar heroes like Tommy Emmanuel and Tim Reynolds (right-hand man to Dave Matthews). While it’s his flashy guitar pyrotechnics that might grab your attention, his songwriting and performance style are what keep you engaged. In short, to quote Tommy Emmanuel, “Jacob rocks!” His latest release, The Ferryboat Waltz, is a combination of nostalgic narratives and blistering musicianship courtesy of Jacob and his new musical foils; bassist Mark Eshenbaugh and Atlanta drummer John Henry. These three play off of one another in a way that makes this feel more like a "band" album than a solo release. Even so, Jacob’s solo acoustic performances are where he shines the brightest. His wry charisma and conversational delivery almost make it seem as though he’s making it all up as he goes. And sometimes he is. Eric Britt opens Thursdays show at 8 pm (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ericbritt), and there is no cover charge, 21+ only. The Big Chill is located at 910 Higdon Ferry Rd in Hot Springs.
