LANTERN THEATRE PRESENTS COMEDY The Lantern Theatre and Conway Community Arts Association (CCAA) will present The Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith on September 30, October 1, 6, 7, and 8 at 7:30 pm and October 2 and 9 at 2:30 pm at the new Lantern Theatre, located at 1021 Van Ronkle in downtown Conway. The Kitchen Witches is the hilarious story of two TV chefs who have been enemies for over 30 years. When they are thrown together on a new cooking show, the insults fly farther than the food. It’s part Martha Stewart and part Jerry Springer! The play features Sharon Colton and Wendy Shirar as the chefs, Jeff Ward as the cooking show’s director, and Jacob Clanton as the camera operator. The show is directed by Shane Shoemake. Tickets go on sale Monday, September 19 and are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made by calling 501-733-6220. Tickets at the door, if available, will be $12 for adults and $7 for students. The performance is sponsored, in part, by the Arkansas Arts Council and the Conway Advertising and Promotion Commission. The space at 1021 Van Ronkle was recently acquired by Conway Community Arts, transformed into a ‘black box’ performance space and named The Lantern Theatre. It has become the permanent home for the organization with plans to add additional plays and musicals, improv shows, and late night performances. The space also includes an outside garden which will contain an area for entertaining and receptions. Conway Community Arts is a member of the American Association of Community Theaters and has maintained a consistent cultural presence in Conway for almost 40 years.
