Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge Set to Host Fall Festival, Celebrating the Outdoors On Saturday, September 17, 2011, Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge invites the community to come and explore the Refuge’s unique recreation opportunities while enjoying a family-friendly atmosphere during its second annual Fall Festival in celebration of the outdoors. Complete with exhibitors, music, food, and fun, this festival will focus on a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities and provide hands-on activities to engage youth and their families to get outside and get connected with nature. While hunting and fishing remain the most popular pastimes within the refuge, we would like to offer people from all walks of life a chance to enjoy other interests and activities. Free admissions for all and on-site parking available. Last year’s event was such a success that we couldn’t wait to host the festival again. With nearly 500 people in attendance, our parking lot was full and we knew we would have to regroup on the event site for this year. It was decided that this year’s event would be held on the RIVER!!! That’s right, come join the festivities at the Old Beer Joint Access, by the river bridge on Hwy 82. We are anxious and excited to offer the community this day of fun on the Refuge. The festival will take place at the “Old Beer Joint Access” on Highway 82 West in Crossett, AR, west of the river bridge . Festivities will kick off at 10:00 am and will conclude at 3:00 pm. The festival will showcase exhibitors such as Arkansas Canoe Club, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Southeast Arkansas Beekeepers Association, The Christian Motorcycle Association, Ouachita Waterdogs Inc. and many more. There will be an informal duck calling contest for all ages, raffles for some great prizes and the Lifeshare Blood bus on site. A special thank you to the 2011 Festival Sponsors, Plum Creek, Potlatch, and State Farm for supporting the festival, and to the Friends of Felsenthal for their hard work and dedication.
