Soul Sanctuary exhibit opening

(Little Rock, Arkansas – September 13, 2011) Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, announces the opening of its newest exhibit, Soul Sanctuary – Images of the African American Worship Experience. Saturday, September 17, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Mosaic Templars Cultural Center (501 West Ninth Street, Little Rock), this new exhibit will open with FREE admission and a full day of activities. The opening exhibit will feature an array of artifacts celebrating African-American churches from across Arkansas. Activities include performances from local gospel choirs and guided exhibit tours. The evening will cap with a reception and concert starting at 5:00 p.m. featuring Bethany Devine, BET’s Sunday Best Top 20 Finalist and special guest artist Merlon Devine. “This is simply a ‘don’t miss’ opportunity,” explained Quantia Fletcher, assistant director of Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. “The images displayed in this exhibit truly capture the essence of the faith experience.
