Chili Pie Fundraiser
Central Arkansas Development Council Hot Spring County Single Parent Scholarship Fund will host a Chili Pie fundraiser at College of the Ouachitas in Malvern. The general public is invited to attend.
Cost for the event is $3 for a small Frito chili pie, cookie and drink and $5 for a large Frito chili pie, cookie and drink. All proceeds will go towards scholarships for low-income single parents to attend college.
The SPSF program provides scholarships to low income single parents who are pursuing a college education. Funds are used to offset financial situations that may keep a single parent from achieving their educational goals. The scholarship fund is a means for our community to assist single parents in returning to school to improve their marketable skills and make their goals attainable.
Each scholarship recipient is provided counseling, information, and referrals in the program. In return, the scholarship recipients participate in fundraising for the program. Single Parent Scholarships are used to offset emergencies such as child care, car repair, fuel, books, and tuition not covered by other sources or other emergencies which can interrupt their education.
