Sister Prejean is most well-known for Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States, her 1993 non-fiction account of the execution of Patrick Sonnier and Robert Willie. The book, which spent 31 weeks onThe New York Times best-seller list, was later developed into a film starring Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon, who ultimately won an Academy Award for her performance.
