A Day of Service - A Day On, Not A Day Off

Mark your calendar for this event, the observance of the congressionally legislated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a United States holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., observed on the third Monday of January each year, around the time of King’s birthday, January 15, 1929. On Monday, January 16, 2012, the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission will hold the “Celebratory Component” of “A Day of Service – A Day On, Not A Day Off” at Noon in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall, which is located at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway , AR. Pastor Cornell Maltbia will be the featured keynote speaker. Immediately following, the AMLKC will hold the “Service Component” of “A Day of Service – A Day On, Not A Day Off” next door at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center to feed the homeless and other worthwhile service activities such as health screenings, job counseling, blood drive, and hygiene kits. “A Day of Service” is open and free to the general public. We thank you in advance for joining us in events that will help this and the next generation achieve Dr. King’s dreams of understanding and acceptance of nonviolence and human equality as a way of building common unity among all Arkansans.
