The Central Mississippi Valley Archeological Society will host the fifth lecture of the 2011-12 academic year, and the first for the spring semester in the ASU Museum, Room 157 (first floor). Dr. Elizabeth T. Horton, Arkansas Archeological Survey station archeologist for the Toltec Mounds Research Station, will present "Baskets for the Ancestors: The Petaca of the Southeast." This lecture presents the ongoing research on basketry, textiles, and associated durable artifacts from the 15th-century Craig Mound "Great Mortuary" deposit at Spiro Mounds, Oklahoma, conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Horton and Dr. George Sabo of the Arkansas Archeological Survey.
