In the Spirit of America’s greatest and most famous illusionist, Harry Houdini, Eureka Springs, Arkansas illusionist, Sean-Paul of Intrigue Theater, will perform not one but two Houdini-influenced “Extraordinary Escapes” during the month of October. The first feat takes place on Thursday, October 4th at 12p.m. at The 1886 Crescent Hotel at 75 Prospect Ave. Sean-Paul has obtained a regulation straitjacket from a corrections facility and following an inspection by the Eureka Springs Police Department to verify its authenticity, he will be strapped into the straitjacket and hoisted upside down by his feet from a plank extending off the observation deck of America’s Most Haunted Hotel. Sean-Paul must free himself before he is lowered back down to the front steps of the hotel. One thing that makes this extra unique is that Sean-Paul will be dangling high above a haunted location where several deaths resulted from high falls. On Saturday, October 20th at 7 p.m. in Basin Spring Park on Spring St, Sean-Paul will attempt another extraordinary escape. A 70 year old 30-gallon milk can has been obtained and following an exhaustive inspection of the can and lid by members of the crowd, Sean-Paul will be handcuffed, stuffed into the milk can filled with water and the lid sealed with 4 padlocks. The crowd will see whether Sean-Paul can escape from such conditions or if he will have to rap on the sides of the milk can with the handcuffs to signal a rescue from EMTs standing by. One more event will take place on Halloween night, October 31st, at 10 p.m. A special performance called The Intrigue of Harry Houdini will take place in the Crystal Ballroom of the Crescent Hotel. The show will include segments of Intrigue Theater and will end with a séance to try to make contact with the Spirit of Harry Houdini, who just happened to die on Halloween in 1926. “While there have been perhaps 100’s of Houdini séances in the past 86 years, we don’t know of one ever conducted in a place already as haunted as the Crescent Hotel.”, says Medium Juliana Fay.
