Veterans' Photo Voice
Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) in collaboration with MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History is holding a reception to celebrate the photography of veterans. It will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. The photography will be on display from February 15 to May 15, 2013.
The photography will be exhibited on the “Arkansas Heroes” wall, an exhibit launched to recognize individuals from our city and state for their military service. The first honoree was Captain Anthony Riggan, United States Air Force, who tragically lost his life at the age of 25. The exhibit changes periodically to reflect stories, artifacts and images that tell the stories of Arkansas Veterans and their service to our state and our nation.
Located at 503 E. 9th Street in downtown Little Rock’s historic MacArthur Park, the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History was created to preserve and interpret the state’s military heritage from its territorial period to the present. The museum preserves the contributions of Arkansas men and women who have served both in peacetime and in war. The museum is housed in the Arsenal Building, a National Historic Landmark and one of Little Rock’s oldest surviving structures. Built in 1840 as part of a frontier military post, the site witnessed pivotal exchanged between Federal and Confederate forces during the Civil War and later became t he birthplace of General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur.
