emmc, LLC, a Las Vegas based entertainment media management company, today announces the showing of Joshua Oppenheimer’s Oscar and Academy Award nominated film, THE ACT OF KILLING, Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:30am at the Ron Robinson Theater, 1 Count Pulaski Way in Little Rock.
The film is the first of a monthly DEBORAH Presents… series of events as journalist, author, television personality and Little Rock native Deborah Robinson presents films, concerts, conferences, authors, speakers, artists, celebrities, entertainers, politicians and newsmakers in Seriously Entertaining live stage and theater events combined with interviews and discussions.

When the government of Indonesia was overthrown by the military in 1965, Anwar Congo and his friends were promoted from small-¬time gangsters who sold movie theatre tickets on the black market to death squad leaders. They helped the army kill more than one million alleged communists, ethnic Chinese, and intellectuals in less than a year. In this chilling and inventive documentary, the filmmakers examine a country where Indonesian death-squad leaders are celebrated as heroes.
The filmmakers challenged the unrepentant death squad leaders to dramatize their role in the genocide by reenacting their real-life mass-killings in the style of the American movies they love. The hallucinatory result is a cinematic fever dream, an unsettling journey deep into the imaginations of mass-murderers and the shockingly banal regime of corruption and impunity they inhabit.
