Visitors to this eclectic getaway town in the Ozarks received good news this week when it was announced that the city will now provide free entertainment in Basin Spring Park seven days a week. The City Advertising and Promotions Commission (CAPC) has been offering free music in the park for tourists Fridays and Saturdays from noon until 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4 p.m. Those free concerts will continue through October. The Eureka Springs Downtown Network (ESDN) is now adding to that lineup by providing free entertainment in Basin Spring Park Monday through Thursday from 1-3 p.m. "We're proud and excited to be involved in giving our visitors great, free family entertainment every day of the week," commented ESDN director Jacqueline Wolven. She continued, "It's yet one more reason for folks to come here and enjoy our magical town!" According to Wolven, the lineup of free entertainment Monday through Thursday is the result of cooperation between the city's local talent, nightly attractions, and several non-profit organizations. The weekday schedule of free entertainment includes the Texans Gospel Show from the Great Passion Play on Mondays, acoustic music from bluegrass to blues by musicians from the Pine Mountain Music Theater on Wednesdays, and the music and comedy of P. Nutt and the gang from the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down on Thursdays. Tuesday's entertainment will be provided alternately by the Good Shepherd Animal Shelter (1st, 2nd and 5th weeks), the Eureka Springs Preservation Society (3rd week), and Main Stage Creative Community Center (4th week). "This sort of cooperation between public agencies and private businesses and organizations is yet another fine example of the wonderful cooperation displayed by the citizens of Eureka Springs," Mayor Dani Joy stated. "And with the national economy struggling," she added, "there couldn't have been a better time for us to give something back to our visitors!"
