William J. Clinton Presidential Center Debuts Newest Exhibit "Jewels to Jelly Beans: Treasures from the Presidential Vaults" Showcases Unique Items from more than 14 U.S. Presidents LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 14, 2008) -- The William J. Clinton Presidential Center will unveil its newest exhibit, "Jewels to Jelly Beans: Treasures from the Presidential Vaults," on Saturday, Sept. 19. The exhibit will run through January 30, 2010. "Jewels to Jelly Beans" will feature over 200 rarely-before-seen artifacts, foreign and domestic gifts, and other priceless objects from the collections of more than 14 U.S. presidents. "This exhibition is as wonderfully diverse as its name," said Stephanie S. Streett, executive director of the William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation. "From jewels to jelly beans, from letters to Limoge dishes, the Clinton Center is the only venue in the region where visitors can see a variety of treasures from a number of presidential collections." Among its more than 200 items, "Jewels to Jelly Beans" will feature an original letter written in 1801 from President Thomas Jefferson in which he discusses the importance of presidential papers and why they should be preserved for future generations. Other items in the exhibit include: one of President Ronald Reagan¹s favorite jelly bean jars; a framed piece of steel from the World Trade Center given to President George W. Bush; President George Washington¹s Traveling Secretary; and a special section honoring the First Ladies with a collection of gowns from Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others. "Every president has a fascinating story, and 'Jewels to Jelly Beans' was created to tell these stories by assembling some of the presidents' most meaningful and defining belongings," said Terri Garner, director of the William J. Clinton Library. The Center will also have age-appropriate tours for Pre K-3rd, 4th-8th and 9th-12th to accompany the exhibit. Children will be a given a chance to be treasure hunters for a day while learning about diplomacy and the presidency in a fun and interactive way. Schools can make reservations for free tours by calling the Clinton Center Visitor Services office at 501-748-0419. These educational materials will also be available for self-guided tours at the Special Services Desk located in the lobby of the Clinton Library. About the William J.
