Central Arkansans looking to enjoy artwork as well as fresh produce now have a new venue. The Bernice Garden Artists’ Community will showcase during its market the artwork of Arkansas artists as well as organic produce raised by Arkansas gardeners and farmers. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday beginning May 15 through September 25, 2010, Arkansas artists can display their original works for purchase in the Bernice Garden at the corner of Daisy Gatson Bates and South Main in downtown Little Rock. Only original work by Arkansas artists will be available, and no mass produced items will be accepted. Parking at the market is free and onsite. Artists interested in selling their work through the Bernice Garden Artist Community should contact Rhonda Reeves, manager of the community and market, at 501-350-4055 or e-mail Rhonda@canvasjunkie.com. Arkansas gardeners and farmers interested in selling their organic produce at the market should contact Gerald Cound, founder of Village Commons, at villagecommonslr@gmail.com. A portion of the monies from the market will benefit Village Commons, a nonprofit grassroots organization raising awareness through education and programs on sustainable living.
