Designer House at The Village Opens Sept. 24 CONWAY, ARK. (Sept. 10) – The walls are up, the painting is done, and the designers are moving in, as the 2010 Conway Symphony Designer House prepares to open in The Village at Hendrix in Conway. The event will run Sept. 24 through Oct. 16, Tuesdays through Sundays. The house is closed on Mondays. “We’re so excited about this year’s Designer House,” says event co-chair Lori Quinn. “We selected a live/work unit in The Village at Hendrix as the perfect place for both commercial and residential designers to showcase their work, with a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces.” More than 20 professional designers from across the state are participating in the Designer House, with spaces ranging from a teen’s bedroom to a retail storefront to an outdoor patio. “We can’t wait to open the doors,” says event co-chair Katherine Thomason. “We know our visitors will love all the beautiful work that the designers have created, plus the chance to purchase dozens of unique items, all in one place. “ Several designers will be on hand throughout the tour, offering visitors a chance to discuss their work with them personally. Quinn and Thomason worked closely with The Village at Hendrix and a host of volunteers from the newly-formed Conway Symphony Orchestra Guild to prepare for this year’s event, the major fundraiser for the CSO. “This was a huge project for the Guild to undertake,” says CSO Board President Allison Vetter. “We’re looking forward to a successful event, and appreciate all their hard work.” The Designer House will also host several special events, including a Preview Party at 6:00p.m. Sept. 23; Conway Symphony musicians performing throughout the day Sept. 24-25; Art Happenings and Ladies Night Out at 6:00p.m. Sept. 27; The Art of Speaking throughout the day Oct. 3; and Vocal Designs at The Village, a concert featuring several local soloists, at 6:30p.m. Oct. 5. A full schedule of events and ticket information is available at www.conwaysymphony.org. Advance tickets for the Designer House tour are $10 for a Day Pass and are available on the CSO website, www.conwaysymphony.org, and at Quinn Insurance in downtown Conway, through 4:00pm on Sept. 23. A Run of Show Pass, for unlimited admission, is available for $30, and group rates are available. Once the Designer House opens on Sept. 24, tickets will be $15 at the door for a Day Pass. The Village at Hendrix is the Presenting Sponsor of this year’s Designer House. Benefactor Sponsors are Watson Homes, Nabholz Properties/Sperry Van Ness, and Smith Ford. The Log Cabin Democrat/Women’s Inc. is the Media Sponsor, and the Conway Convention and Visitors Bureau provided advertising support. Funds raised through the Designer House will be used to support the educational and outreach programs of the Conway Symphony Orchestra, including the CSO in the Classroom program in local schools, and partnerships with several area nonprofits including Boys and Girls Clubs and Independent Living Services.
