October 22 - November 30, 2010 Exhibition: Nosotras: Portraits of Latinas UALR – Fine Arts Building – Gallery I Nosotras: Portraits of Latinas. From Exhibits USA and funded in part by the Mid America Arts Alliance Traveling Exhibition, the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. As a Mexican-American born on the border and raised in Middle America, exhibition organizer Virginia Dodier—photography historian, curator, and Director of the Carlsbad Museum & Art Center in New Mexico—has, like many other Hispanic women and girls, experienced the feeling of living in two worlds. She organized the exhibit to present positive images of women’s lives lived “between here and the homeland.” Featured Artists: Karen Bucher, Angela Cappetta, Nereida García-Ferraz, Mary Teresa Giancoli, Patricia Gomez, Scott Nava, Tone Stockenström and Lupita Murillo Tinnen. Gallery Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am-5pm; Saturday, 10am-1pm and Sunday, 2-5pm. Closed University Holidays. Free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.arkansasmexico2010.com.
