TOTR TO HOLD AUDITIONS LITTLE ROCK—If you find yourself glued to Glee or Sing-off every week and are wondering what it would be like to sing, dance, perform in a show or even in a competition, then you’ll be interested to know that Top of the Rock Chorus, Arkansas’s premier women’s four-part harmony a cappella chorus, is looking for a few good women! The chorus will hold auditions on Tuesday nights from January 11 through February 15, at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church, 7351 Warden Road, Sherwood, Arkansas. The chorus is preparing International competition in Houston, Texas, in October, 2011. Requirements are a love of singing, and the ability to maintain your vocal line when harmony is being sung. Participants will receive a free voice evaluation to determine which part is best suited for them. Ability to read music is a plus, but is not necessary. Founded in the early 1960’s, TOTR is a full-charter member of Sweet Adelines International with more than 60 members. Under Master Directors Peggy Barnes Gram and Kelly Causey, TOTR has consistently placed among the top five in their five-state region and qualified for international competition seven times. In 2000, the chorus earned the Harmony Achievement Award during the Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition in Orlando, Florida. The chorus placed second in the world in midsize chorus competition in the International Harmony Classic in Nashville, Tennessee, in October 2009. Top of the Rock is the current Region 25 Chorus Champion and will compete in the Sweet Adelines International competition in Houston, TX, in October 2011. Sweet Adelines International is the world’s largest and most respected women’s singing organization with almost 26,000 members in the United States, Canada and 12 other countries. Members of the 600 choruses and 1,200 quartets benefit from superb vocal education, opportunities to perform in concerts, the chance to participate in regional and international competitions and—above all—the privilege of continuing the uniquely American art form of barbershop music.
