Annual High School Competition and Exhibition The River Valley Arts Center’s CenturyLink High School Art Competition and Exhibition opening reception is Sunday, March 6 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Arts Center, 1001 East B Street, Russellville. This competition is open to all High School Students in grades 9–12 in any school in Arkansas and high school aged home schooled students. Students may submit their own works or teachers may submit works for them. Cash awards, sponsored by CenturyLink, are $50 for 1st place, $30 for 2nd place, $20 for 3rd place in each of two categories: 9-10 grade and 11-12 grade. A cash award of $75 will be presented to Best of Show. “The public school art teachers are doing a wonderful job with these students. I am always impressed with the quantity and quality of their work,” said Betty LaGrone, Arts Center executive director. “We have over 100 pieces in this exhibit and invite the public to come out on Sunday to enjoy the exhibit and reception and meet, support and encourage these young artists,” she said. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Residents are also invited to bring their children to enjoy the exhibit and a creative time in the classroom during the reception. All craft materials, supplies and an instructor are furnished.
