John's work has been exhibited and published both internationally and across the United States including New York, California, France and the UK. John's work is also a part of numerous museum permanent collections including most recently the Museum of Fine Art in Houston. Currently residing in Little Rock with his lovely wife Kate and their three rescue dogs, John is currently enamored with vintage and toy cameras. Artist Statement "This show includes selections from two series including "Shadows on the Road" which explores the meditative quality of found spaces and "Reverie" which breaks down the emotive qualities of intimacy and relationships into single elusive gestures. Both find a common connection in a quiet, universal hum as they weave in and out of my life, from the internal to the external, and so reflecting my vision of the world." Baxter Knowlton: Growing up in Mississippi's literary stomping grounds, Baxter Knowlton developed an insightful eye for character. His thick, vibrant brush strokes reveal a life's worth of stories in each of his stoically candid portraits. His subjects have included William Faulkner, Barry Hannah, Shelby Foote, Walker Percy, and Flannery O'Connor, as well as countless endearingly everyday people. He has been living in Little Rock since 2002.
