HOME PLATE HEROES’ SLIDE INTO THEA NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARK.: The Jim Elder Good Sport Fund’s annual fundraiser, the “Home Plate Heroes” auction, will be held in the Thea Foundation Center for the Arts again this year. “Home Plate Heroes” is a collection of painted and/or decorated home plate-shaped wooden panels, each to be auctioned to the highest bidder. The artsy home plate show made a splash during ArtWeek last year, and is expected to be no less popular this year. The majority of the plates will on view at the Thea Center, as well as auctioned online at www.jimelder.org from October 13 to 27. A select few of the plates will be auctioned live during a reception at the Thea Center on Thursday, October 27, 6 to 8pm. The reception will be free and open to the public. Individuals who register for the auction are eligible to win a print of Ray Winder Field. All proceeds benefit the Jim Elder Good Sport Fund, which supports these “local heroes”: American Diabetes Summer Camp, Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches, Easter Seals, Hearts and Hooves, Miracle League of Arkansas, Police Athletic League of North Little Rock, Positive Attitude Reaches Kids, Reviving Baseball in the Innercity at Lamar Porter Field, Rose City Boys and Girls Club, Centers for Youth and Families, First Tee of Arkansas, and Thea Foundation. The Thea Foundation Center for the Arts is located at 401 Main Street, Suite 100, North Little Rock. For more information on “Home Plate Heroes,” contact Jim Elder Good Sport Fund’s Executive Director, Susan Elder, at selder52@gmail.com.
