Terry Library Hosts Arkansas Quilters Guild Display From a garment on a carved ivory figure of an Egyptian Pharaoh in 3400 B.C. to patented techniques created by an Arkansas quilter in the 21st Century, quilts have been a vital part of everyday life. The Central Arkansas Library System's (CALS) Terry Library, 2015 Napa Valley Drive, is hosting a display of over 30 quilts crafted by the Arkansas Quilters Guild through the end of November. Opportunities to learn more about quilting and to personalize a quilt square are available. On October 25 at noon, Wilma Richter will present Appliqué Quilting Hawaiian Style, and Debbie Haley will present Memory Quilts Made with T-Shirts at 10:30 a.m. on October 29. The exhibit includes quilts made for use as bed covers as well as quilts designed as works of art for display. Terry Library is open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m.-8 p.m., and Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Visit www.cals.org for more pictures. The Arkansas Quilters Guide (AQG) was founded in 1980 to promote the appreciation of the rich heritage of the art of quilting and to enhance each member's own quilting skills and knowledge. In addition, AQG strives to expand and enrich the art of quilting for future generations and to preserve the existing quilts. For more information contact Robin Brown at 228-0129.
