Modern Organic Art Show Featured at Bentonville Convention and Visitors Bureau
Local Artist Heidi Carlsen-Rogers Exhibits her Large- Scale Abstract Works
Bentonville, AR-October 24…The Bentonville Convention and Visitors Bureau welcomes artist Heidi Carlsen-Rogers to its gallery at 104 E Central in Bentonville. Carlsen-Rogers’s show, Modern Organic, will be featured in the lobby gallery of the Bentonville CVB from November 1, 2011-January 2, 2012. Lobby hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with extended hours on Friday, November 4th.
The Modern Organic series is Heidi Carlsen -Rogers’s contemporary interpretation of the nature-inspired elements found in the southern landscape. These large-scale paintings utilize enhanced color, exaggerated shape, organic movement and a reduced compositional style to present an abstracted expression of these natural surroundings.
The largest painting, Modern Organic, from which the show takes its name, measures 48” x 48”. The sizable canvas will accompany a variety of paintings similar in scale. Carlsen-Rogers’ inspiration comes mainly from her surroundings. “Living with all of the natural beauty here in Arkansas, the endless trees, big sky, clear waters, beautiful flowers and foliage, and shadowed woods has definitely found its way into my work, and been a significant influence in my painting,” stated the artist.
When asked why she leans toward larger, bolder works, Carlsen-Rogers replied, “I am very drawn to producing large-scale pieces. To me, a life size painting creates a greater impression or impact on a viewer in a way that a smaller work would never be able to replicate.”
The Bentonville Convention and Visitors Bureau will also host a “Meet the Artist” event on Friday, November 4th from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Bentonville CVB lobby gallery during the First Friday celebration on the Bentonville Square. The public is invited to attend the event and to speak with Heidi Carlsen-Rogers while viewing her works and enjoying refreshments.
