ARKANSAS ARTS CENTER: Interwoven Craft: Drawn from the collection of the Arkansas Arts Center, Interwoven: Craft features work in a variety of forms and media including ceramic, glass, fiber and metal by artists who employ the process of weaving in their work by exploring the varied meanings of the word “interwoven.” Certainly, it refers to the physical process of weaving materials together, but the word also makes reference to a blending together or intermixing. While functional and sculptural basketry is well represented, it is not the focus of the installation. Rather, Interwoven: Craft also contains work by artists who explore the concept of interconnectedness as humans through our solitary and interpersonal relationships, our interaction with the built and natural environment, and those within and between races, genders and cultures. Admission to this exhibition is free. The exhibit will be on display through November 17 in the Sam Strauss, Sr. Gallery.
