BUTLER CENTER FOR ARKANSAS STUDIES: The Korean War has often been overshadowed by other conflicts, such as World War II and the Vietnam War. Much of the history of the war exists only in the memories and mementos of its veterans. Approximately 6,300 Arkansans served in the war, including six who received the Medal of Honor. Visitors to the Butler Center’s research room, 401 President Clinton Ave., may explore the oral histories, letters, diaries, and photographs shared by veterans. Anyone can peruse the Butler Center’s vast military collections, and staff members can help patrons with their research. Veterans are invited to contribute, too. Forgotten: The Arkansas Korean War Project is an initiative of the Butler Center to preserve and document Arkansas’s role in the war. This research resource will be availabe through Dec. 31 during regular museum hours. For more information, visit butlercenter.org.
