Glazed with Fire Ceramics by Joe Bruhin

Glazed with Fire Ceramics by Joe Bruhin An exhibition of Joe Bruhin’s wood-fired ceramics is on display at the Arts and Science Center through February 24, 2014. Rooted in ancient Japanese tradition, Bruhin’s intensive Anagama kiln wood firings produce ceramics unmatched in boldness of color and richness of texture. Fired without glaze, the minerals of the wood, clay, and ash merge to produce a natural glaze reflective of the volatility and power of Bruhin’s ten-day firing process. Included in the exhibition are vases, pots, jars, as well as Bruhin’s signature Iga pots. A free reception will be held, Thursday, February 20th from 5-7 pm with a gallery talk by the artist at 5:30 pm. Gallery admission is free.
