Bombs, Bones, & Bacteria, an exhibition of mixed media work by Robert Reep and Tom Richard will open at the Arts & Science Center on February 5, 2015 with an opening reception and gallery talk to be held from 5–7 p.m. that evening. Reep and Richard’s work takes images and objects at hand – a peep, a model airplane, a coffee filter and reconfigures these into jokes or puns with multiple meanings. The accessible imagery invites the viewer to make her own meanings – to play with the ideas, symbols, and references. Speaking the language of consumer culture with vivid, graphic juxtapositions and kitsch commodities, Reep and Richard erode the barriers between high and low, between danger and fun, between consuming and producing. The exhibition will remain on display through June 20, 2015.
